Part-147

The challenges of a Part-147 training organisation

Annex IV (Part-147) to Regulation (EU) No 1321/2014 sets the requirements for maintenance training organisations. Each one translates into a concrete organisational constraint.

    Scheduling courses under constraints

Basic training courses follow the modules of Part-66 Appendix I; type training courses include theoretical and practical elements. Content, duration, trainee groups, classrooms and equipment all have to fit together.

Having the right staff at the right time

Instructors, knowledge examiners and practical assessors must be qualified for the subjects they cover. Their experience, qualifications and update training are recorded.

    Running the quality system

Training procedures and the quality system, including independent audits, keep the organisation compliant over time.

    Part-145 training centres

On the Part-145 side, competence assessment and continuation training of certifying staff call for the same rigour in planning and traceability.

A constant organisational workload

These requirements are not independent: an unavailable instructor, grounded equipment or an MTOE amendment ripple through the schedule, examinations and records. This is where a dedicated planning tool makes sense.
